A Day of No Expectations

Day 6. A day with no expectations is a perfect day to stumble upon something unexpected. On this day, March 18th, history is full of fascinating moments:

• A Royal Pain for Rome. In 37 AD, the Roman Senate decided to ignore the will of the deceased Emperor Tiberius and proclaimed Caligula emperor instead.

• The First Spacewalk. In 1965, Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov became the first person to ever conduct a spacewalk, floating outside the Voskhod 2 spacecraft for 12 minutes. It was a huge milestone in space exploration.

• The Biggest Art Heist in History. On this day in 1990, two thieves disguised as police officers stole 13 works of art from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, a haul worth around $500 million. The crime remains unsolved to this day.

• A Really, Really Bad Tornado. The deadliest tornado in U.S. history, the "Tri-State Tornado," tore across Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana in 1925, tragically killing nearly 700 people.

• National Awkward Moments Day. Apparently, today is a day to embrace our most cringeworthy moments and just laugh them off. So if you do something awkward, you're not just clumsy, you're festive!
